A pet-owner's worst fears could now be allayed with latest MCACC, AHS tie-up
Phoenix, Arizona: Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) and the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) are joining forces with Petco Love, a national non-profit organization working to help reunite lost pets with their families should they ever go missing, through Petco Love Lost. According to startling industry statistics, one in every three pets will go missing in their lifetime.
Petco Love Lost is a free, searchable national database that uses photo-matching AI technology to make finding lost pets quicker and easier, as well as reuniting found pets in communities across the country. This simple-to-use tool is easily accessible to participating animal organizations nationwide, as well as any pet parent or person who finds a lost pet. Uploaded photos of a missing dog or cat are immediately scanned to determine whether the lost pet is at a participating shelter or with a neighbor in the community.
“We work tirelessly for pets in our care, and that includes helping lost pets get home and back to their families where they belong,” said Kim Powell, Communications Supervisor for MCACC. “There’s nothing more rewarding than reuniting families with their beloved pets and with Petco Love Lost, we’re confident it can lead to many more happy reunions, right here in the Phoenix metropolitan area.”
“We know that one in three pets goes missing in their lifetime, an estimated 10 million pets each year, and we’re not ok with that,” said Petco Love President Susanne Kogut. “That gives us 10 million reasons why we created Petco Love Lost, because we believe nothing is more important than keeping people and pets together for a lifetime of love. Together with MCACC and AHS, our goal is to Unite to Reunite and keep pets where they belong - at home, with you.”
"At the Arizona Humane Society, we know just how important it is to keep pets in their loving homes and out of already overcrowded shelters," said AHS Spokesperson, Kelsey Dickerson. "Thanks to Petco Love Lost’s innovative photo-matching technology, this incredible platform will allow Arizona animal welfare organizations to continue to reunite even more pets with their loved ones when they go missing."
