Arizona high school girls Flag Football gets its breakout moment with live TV coverage of games

Phoenix, Arizona: Flag footbal is a staple school sport, but up until now, the cheers have been reserved for those standing on the sidelines boosting their children. Not anymore, now everyone can cheer on the palyers in high school girls flag football thanks to a new partnership that could be a game-changer for the sport.

The Arizona Cardinals Football Club, State Farm and Arizona’s Family have announced a partnership to broadcast the 'Cardinals High School Girls Flag Football Game of the Week, presented by State Farm'. This marks the first time an NFL team has aired a high school girls flag football game of the week.

Arizona’s Family Sports will air eight games during the season beginning September 17. The first matchup will feature Hamilton High School against Xavier College Preparatory at 7pm.

Each game will feature a 90-minute broadcast alongside play-by-play analysis and sideline reporting that will air on Arizona’s Family Sports. Games will take place on Tuesday or Thursday nights, and re-air on Saturdays throughout the season.

“We are thrilled to partner with State Farm and Arizona’s Family to provide this unprecedented platform to showcase the amazing young women competing in high school flag football in Arizona,” said Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill. “The growth of flag football has been explosive not only in our state and our country but worldwide. As an organization we are proud to help grow the interest even more and shine a spotlight on those competing at such a high level in our own community.”

Arizona is just one of 11 states to offer high school girls flag football. In 2023, 57 Arizona high schools offered high school girls flag football with over 100 schools offering the sport for the 2024 season.

Arizona’s Family Sports is available in Phoenix, Flagstaff, Tucson, Yuma and Albuquerque through select TV providers.
