Arizona State Fair hit by Bird Flu warning ahead of opening
Phoenix, Arizona: Revellers heading to the Arizona State Fair, which opens this Friday, have been given a stark warning by the Arizona Department of Health Services: Be careful of bird flu. So far there have been 60 confirmed non-human cases in the state.
The department has been working with the Arizona State Fair and the farmers who are bringing their animals to the fairgrounds. All the animals go through a series of health checks to make sure they are fit to be at the state fair, but the Arizona Department of Health Services provided the following safety tips:
Look at the animals from a distance
Don’t touch the animals
If you touch any animals, wash your hands right after
Don’t drink raw milk
The AZDHS wants to make it very clear that there is no concern about bird flu at the Arizona State Fair this year. There have been zero human cases of bird flu in Arizona so far.
The State Fair starts Friday, September 20, and ends Sunday, October 27.
