Arizona Weather Update: Monsoon activity to continue with high heat and variable storm chances
Phoenix, Arizona: Today expect more rain with the monsoon ridge centered over southern NV and well defined northeast “Rim to Valley” steering flow. Another active afternoon is expected across the higher terrain of central and western AZ with lower chances across the lower deserts including the Phoenix Valley.
Moving ahead, this general pattern will remain in place through Wednesday before the ridge strengthens and drifts back into northern AZ meaning daily storm chances should continue into at least Wednesday. Otherwise, hot temperatures will continue across the region with daily highs around the 110°F mark.
For today plan on mostly sunny skies through the afternoon hours as daytime high climb into the 108°F-110°F range around the Valley. Light and variable winds will give way to localized gusty conditions (15-30mph range) this evening/tonight due to passing outflows. Widespread storm activity is expected across the higher terrain of central and western AZ this afternoon/evening. Storms will try and move south/southwest off the higher terrain into portions of the lower deserts.
For tomorrow and Wednesday one will see a continuation hot temperatures and a semi-active monsoon pattern. Afternoon temperatures will easily climb into the 110°F-113°F range around the Valley making for near excessive heat conditions.
Storm chances and measurable rainfall across the lower deserts including the Phoenix area will fluctuate each evening.
