Donald Trump declares war on concert ticket scalpers as Kid Rock dresses like he means it

Washington D.C.: President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday aimed at cracking down on "exploitative ticket scalping" and introducing reforms to live event pricing.
Flanked by musician Kid Rock in the Oval Office, Trump described the order as a "very serious" effort to protect fans from inflated ticket prices.

Kid Rock, wearing sunglasses and a flashy red rhinestone-studded suit, praised the move, calling ticket buying a "conundrum" due to bots and scalpers driving up costs. The order targets "unscrupulous middlemen" by directing the Treasury and Justice Departments to enforce IRS reporting rules for resellers. A 2023 law requires platforms to report ticket sales exceeding $600, potentially triggering additional taxes for scalpers.
The order also tasks the FTC and DOJ with ensuring price transparency and competition in ticket sales, citing cases where fans paid up to "70 times" face value. Trump admitted he "didn’t know too much about it" but acknowledged the widespread frustration.

The issue gained national attention after Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour ticket chaos, which led to a Senate hearing and a Biden-era antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and Live Nation for alleged monopoly practices. Kid Rock claimed Ticketmaster now supports reforms but urged Congress to cap resale prices, joking that he’s "overpaid" and wants to be a "hero to working-class people".
After a lengthy Q&A with reporters — including a question about whether Trump would wear Kid Rock’s patriotic jacket — Trump finally signed the order, quipping, "You better do well with this." Kid Rock held up the document and declared, "Make America Fun Again."
