STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER: Gavin Newsom mercilessly trolled after comments on ICE raid

Ventura County, CALIFORNIA: California Governor Gavin Newsom is facing bipartisan criticism after posting a fiery response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids at cannabis farms in Ventura County, where authorities rescued eight unaccompanied migrant children allegedly subjected to exploitative labor conditions.
The federal raids, which unfolded at multiple Glass House Farms facilities north of Los Angeles, escalated into a tense standoff. Video footage shows ICE agents in tactical gear confronting crowds, while masked agitators hurled objects and slurs. The situation turned violent when tear gas was deployed and one individual allegedly fired a weapon at agents before fleeing. A manhunt is underway for the shooter.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the operation led to the rescue of eight minors working under potentially illegal and dangerous conditions. DHS also cited concerns about human trafficking and child labor law violations.
Despite these findings, Governor Newsom responded with a political jab on social media, posting, “Kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields,” before adding, “Trump calls me ‘Newscum’ — but he’s the real scum.”

The comment drew swift backlash. Vice President JD Vance criticized Democrats for "having a fit" over immigration enforcement.
Political commentator Peachy Keenan asked, “Why are you allowing small children to work in a drug farm?”
Others, like strategist Matt Whitlock, suggested Newsom should delete the post.
ICE and Customs and Border Protection confirmed the legality of the raids and the seriousness of the charges. “Politicians like Newsom and Ruben Gallego continue to demonize and attack law enforcement officers who bravely rescued these children,” a DHS spokesperson said.
Democratic lawmakers also came under fire for spreading misinformation. Rep. Jimmy Gomez inaccurately described the cannabis site as a strawberry farm, tweeting, “How many MS-13 gang members are waking up at 3 a.m. to pick strawberries?” He claimed Trump was targeting immigrant farm workers “who feed America,” a statement Fox News’ Bill Melugin called “actively dishonest.”
Sen. Ruben Gallego similarly mischaracterized the facility, asserting ICE was targeting families instead of criminals. Neither Gomez nor Gallego responded to media inquiries.
Glass House Farms confirmed agents executed search warrants and stated they were cooperating fully with the investigation. The number of arrests remains unclear, but DHS affirmed the raids targeted individuals with criminal warrants.
