How the tragic deaths of little Cortinez Logan and Zion Rodgers have left Phoenix reeling
Phoenix, Arizona: The tragic deaths of 10-year-old Cortinez Logan and one-year-old Zion Rodgers in two separate incidents has left Phoenix reeling. And as the city prepares to illuminate the night sky with 4th of July fireworks, thoughts and prayers will go out to the families of the two children.
How did Zion Rodgers die?
One-year-old, Zion Rodgers, died after he was found unconscious in a backyard pool. The incident seemed to have taken place on Tuesday around 1.30pm at a home on Villa Maria Drive, near the intersections of 27th Avenue and Union Hills Drive.
The Phoenix Fire Department was first on the scene and reported that the boy was already receiving CPR when they arrived, but they then took over. Phoenix PD officers were next to arrive and little Zion was taken to hospital in critical condition, but he was later declared dead. An investigation is ongoing.
How did Cortinez Logan die?
Ten-year-old Cortinez 'overheated' on the Mormon Trailhead near 24th Street and Baseline on South Mountain in Phoenix on Tuesday. At around 2pm fire crews rushed to the site and found Cortinez in critical condition. He was with members of his family. The crew then lifted him aboard a Phoenix Fire Department helicopter and flew him off the mountain to a waiting ambulance. He was later declared dead at the hospital.
