Identity of remains found in White Tank Mountains revealed
A hiker alerted deputies to the remains.
Phoenix, Arizona: The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the human remains recovered in the White Tank Mountains.
MCSO released a statement identifying the remains as Amber Barnett, who disappeared while hiking on April 2, 2024.
Sgt. Monica Bretado told Arizona’s Family a hiker alerted deputies to the remains, which when identified as being human, triggered the sheriff’s office homicide unit to conduct an investigation.
According to a flyer, Barnett was initially reported missing after not returning from her hike at the park in Waddell, about 35 miles northwest of Phoenix.
The flyer said that after a search, her car, keys and purse were found in one of the lots.
