Jasmine Crockett's 'safest white boy' remark reveals cynical Dem strategy

Washington D.C.: Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has sparked new debate within the Democratic Party by claiming that major donors are rallying behind what she calls the “safest white boy” for the party’s 2028 presidential nomination.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Urban View, Crockett revealed that internal party anxieties about electability-particularly after recent losses with female and minority candidates-are driving this trend.

“There is this fear that the people within the party, within the primary system, will have about voting for a woman because every time we voted for a woman, we’ve lost, so far,” Crockett said, referencing recent electoral defeats.

She added, “So there’s a lot of people that are like, you know what? Like, let’s go find the safest white boy we can find. I mean, I’m just saying.” Crockett emphasized that donors have already identified a specific candidate, though she declined to name him, clarifying only that “it’s not a Black person nor a woman”.

Crockett’s remarks come amid heightened tensions with former President Donald Trump, who recently labeled her a “very low-IQ person” following her outspoken criticism of his administration and referring to wheel-chair-bound Texas Governor Greg Abbott as 'hot wheels'. Despite the controversy, Crockett remains undeterred, positioning herself as a vocal advocate for progressive values and transparency within her party.

Her comments also contrast with recent polling data, which shows no clear Democratic frontrunner for 2028. While figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kamala Harris, and Bernie Sanders each garnered single-digit support, a significant portion of Democratic voters remain undecided about who best represents the party’s core principles.
