Kari Lake doubles down on bizarre 'Biden Invasion' claims
Phoenix, Arizona: Republican senate candidate Kari Lake recently sat down with 12 News to discuss her priorities and stance on key issues. Lake is running for the Senate seat currently held by Kyrsten Sinema, who is not seeking re-election.
Lake, following in Donald Trump's footsetps earlier this week, focused heavily on immigration, promising that her priority, if elected, would be to work with local and federal agencies to secure the US-Mexico border. She is banking on the return of Donald Trump to the White House in 2025 to hep speed her agenda on its way.
“Day one, we’ll see President Trump in office, and by executive order, he will end the chaos at the border,” Lake told the network. She added that her own legislative efforts would include fully funding the southern border wall and reinstating policies like the 'Remain in Mexico' program and stricter measures against illegal immigration.
Lake called the current situation on the border the "Biden invasion" of undocumented immigrants, claiming the influx has placed a burden on housing, law enforcement, and public services. She also outlined plans to increase funding for police and appoint thousands of new judges at the border to process asylum claims quickly.
Addressing the housing challenge, Lake proposed a federal initiative to assist first-time homebuyers by subsidizing mortgage rates. She pointed to high interest rates as a key factor making homeownership unattainable for many young people.
“My kids have told me they don’t think they’ll ever be able to buy a house no matter how hard they work,” Lake said. Her plan focuses on short-term federal assistance to reduce mortgage payments for qualified buyers, as well as temporary relief for seniors struggling with property taxes and living expenses.
When it came to the key issue of abortion -- which could well play a pivotal role in deciding the elction in Arizona -- Lake doubled down on her stance that decisions on abortion should be left to individual states, voicing opposition to a federal abortion ban. She confirmed that she voted against Proposition 139, which seeks to enshrine abortion rights in Arizona’s constitution.
“This is an issue for Arizonans to decide,” Lake stated. “If they vote for it, I will respect that decision as your Senator. But Ruben Gallego is spending millions of dollars on this when it’s not even an issue the Senate can decide.”
Lake had a parting message to Arizonans: “Whether you love me or don’t, whether you support President Trump or not, we are going to bring back a strong economy and a safe, beautiful Arizona."
