Man arrested for vile tirade against President Donald Trump and his family, as cabinet picks face threats
Phoenix, Arizona: An Arizona man has been charged with threatening the life of former President Donald Trump, now president-elect, and his family members in a series of social media videos.
Manuel Tamayo-Torres, the suspect, made explicit threats, accusing Trump of kidnapping and sex-trafficking his children — claims that appear to have fueled his tirades, according to court documents.
In one of the videos, Tamayo-Torres stated, “[Trump] you’re gonna die, your son’s gonna die. Your whole family is going to die.” The expletive-ridden threats continued as he brandished an AR-15-style rifle with a 30-round magazine, vowing to pursue Trump and his associates.
“This is reality now for you,” he declared, adding violent language aimed at law enforcement officers who might intervene.
The videos, posted before and after the November election, have led to charges of threatening Trump’s life and four counts of making false statements while purchasing firearms in Phoenix last year.
Authorities revealed Tamayo-Torres’ history, which includes a felony assault conviction in 2003 and a six-year prison sentence in California. Furthermore, his ex-wife obtained a restraining order against him in July 2023.
Tamayo-Torres was arrested near San Diego on Monday and charged in Arizona. Additional concerns arose after he was linked to a rally at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, where Trump introduced Robert F Kennedy Jr. following Kennedy’s endorsement.
This incident is one of several recent threats against Trump. Earlier this year, the former president survived two credible assassination attempts, including a shooting in Pennsylvania and another armed incident near his Florida golf course. Additionally, bomb threats and swatting attempts targeted members of Trump’s transition team this week.
The FBI is actively investigating the threats.
