Netanyahu's grim gift to John Fetterman threatens to spark liberal meltdown

Jerusalem, Israel: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gifted Senator John Fetterman a silver-plated beeper during the senator’s visit to Israel this week. The unusual exchange took place in Netanyahu’s Jerusalem office, where Fetterman presented the Israeli leader with a framed newspaper article memorializing Netanyahu’s brother, Yonatan, an Israeli soldier killed during a 1976 raid in Uganda.
In return, Netanyahu handed Fetterman the beeper, quipping, “What can I give a man who has everything? How about giving him a beeper?” The prime minister explained, “This is a silver-plated beeper. The real beeper is, like, one-tenth the weight. It’s nothing, but it changes history.”

The gift references Israel’s September 2023 operation in Lebanon, where the military detonated pagers used by Hezbollah members, killing 42 and injuring thousands.
Fetterman, a vocal supporter of Israel, laughed and admired the gift, saying, “When that story broke, I was like, ‘Oh, I love it, I love it.’ And now, it’s like, thank you for this.”
The senator has consistently backed Israel, even as his Democratic Party criticizes its Gaza offensive. On Tuesday, he tweeted, “Hamas does not want peace. I unapologetically, 100% stand with Israel, and demand the release of all remaining hostages,” adding that he was “sending this from Israel.”
Netanyahu’s beeper gift has drawn attention, as he previously gave a golden pager to President Donald Trump. However, his stance has sparked backlash from liberals, with some labeling him “the most despicable scum in Congress".
