Queen Creek cuts sales tax in major boost to consumers, here's why they did it
Queen Creek, Arizona: Effective October 1, 2024, the sales tax in specific areas of Town Center will be reduced from 2.5% to 2.25% (in addition to the State and County sales tax). The reduction applies to businesses in the Queen Creek Marketplace, QC District and Cornerstone at Queen Creek.
In 2007, an additional 0.25% sales tax was approved for developments in Town Center and designated to help pay the debt incurred for building Ellsworth Loop and other enhancements in the Town Center.
“As a Council, we are committed to fiscal responsibility – we continue to evaluate fees and taxes,” stated Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley. “The elimination of the additional 0.25% Town Center sales tax is an example of our commitment to reducing taxes and fees, when we are able to do so. The debt associated with constructing Ellsworth Loop Road has been fulfilled, allowing us to eliminate the additional sales tax.”
Ellsworth Loop Road was constructed to spur economic development in the Town Center, creating a commercial hub that preserved the original Ellsworth Road while enhancing traffic flow.
The Town has notified impacted businesses over the past several months to allow time to adjust their sales tax collection with the Arizona Department of Revenue.
