Strata Clean Energy signs 20-year tolling agreement with APS to power 24k homes
Phoenix, Arizona: Strata Clean Energy has signed a 20-year tolling agreement with Arizona Public Service (APS) for its 150 MW/600 MWh Justice Energy Storage project near Skyline Regional Park in Phoenix, Arizona.
This project, scheduled for completion in April 2026, will store enough energy to power about 24,000 homes for four hours and will connect to the APS power grid. Last year, Strata signed a similar agreement for its 255 MW/1 GWh Scatter Wash battery storage complex, which began construction earlier this year.
Under the agreement, APS can charge and discharge the system as needed, while Strata ensures its capacity, reliability, and efficiency. In June 2023, APS, Arizona's largest electric company, issued an All-Source Request for Proposal (RFP) to secure about 1 GW of resources, including 700 MW of renewable energy. Justice Energy Storage was among the awarded projects. Strata Clean Energy, specializing in solar and storage development, EPC, and O&M, has over 170 projects in operation and a strong presence in the Western US with offices in Denver and Scottsdale.
