Tim Walz fires broadside at Donald Trump as he urges importance of generational election
Tucson, Arizona: Democrat VP nominee Tim Walz addressed a spirited audience in Tucson, urging Arizonans to shape their future by casting their votes in the upcoming election.
Kicking off with a tribute to local leaders and allies, Walz praised former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords for her work in advocating for gun control and safety measures. “We owe her a deep debt of gratitude,” Walz stated. Walz also extended thanks to Senator Mark Kelly, praising his dedication to issues impacting Arizona and beyond.
Walz underscored the significance of the upcoming election, emphasizing that the results would impact not only the next four years but the next 40, influencing future generations. "We’re winning,” he stated confidently, but reminded the crowd that “there’s still work to do", as he acknowledged that some voters remain undecided.
The speech also took aim at the economic legacy of former President Donald Trump, specifically calling out disparities created by policies that he said favored the wealthiest while leaving the middle class and working families struggling. Walz referenced the struggles during the pandemic, noting “tens of thousands of Americans died unnecessarily". He assured voters that under a new administration, policies would be centered around the well-being of every citizen rather than solely benefiting the elite.
Walz also outlined running mate Kamala Harris's economic platform, stressing on her plan to extend affordable insulin to all Americans, after capping insulin prices for seniors at $35.
Walz passionately defended reproductive rights: “Our mothers and grandmothers fought for these rights, and we will fight to protect them,” he declared.
Walz also spoke on the issue of gun violence, assuring the audience that it’s possible to uphold the Second Amendment while also protecting children in schools. He referenced his own background as a veteran and hunter, and voiced his support for sensible gun regulations.
