Scottsdale, Arizona: Scottsdale Water Executive Director Brian Biesemeyer has been awarded Person of the Year by Arizona Water Association and Arizona WateReuse at the 2024 Arizona WateReuse Symposium.

Under 30 years of Biesemeyer's leadership, Scottsdale Water was the first to receive an Advanced Water Purification permit in Arizona and the first to launch a Citizen Water Academy to cultivate public participation.

“Brian has been a steady and active leader with a mission to preserve our water resources and diversify our water supply to take us into the future. He has always been willing to meet with public groups, our city council, and present to community boards. He has been a visionary for Scottsdale and always seeks to find solutions,” said Assistant City Manager Greg Caton.

Over his tenure with Scottsdale Water, Brian has been active in water reuse and is a past national board member of the WateReuse Association and a past president of WateReuse Arizona. Brian is also a past chair and current member of the Management Board of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association.

“This award is a great honor and reflects well on Scottsdale Water as an organization that lives its vision of “water sustainability through stewardship, innovation, and people,” said Biesemeyer. “I am honored to be part of an organization that is dedicated to using innovative strategies to ensure water supplies for many generations.”

The award was presented at the 2024 Annual WateReuse Conference last week in Flagstaff.
