Elon Musk may have just inadvertently blown apart JD Vance's chances of a 2028 presidential run

Washington D.C.: Elon Musk may have inadvertently caused a rift between President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. In response to an X post that claimed Trump should be impeached and Vance made president, Musk replied with one devastating word: "Yes".
Vance, who has maintained a friendly rapport with Musk, responded to the drama with humor, posting a lighthearted message on X that Musk acknowledged with a laughing emoji. The VP posted a photo of himself sitting next to podcaster Theo Von and wrote: "Slow news day, what are we even going to talk about?"
Musk was an early and vocal supporter of Vance’s vice-presidential candidacy, reportedly lobbying Trump on Vance’s behalf and praising him as “the smartest and best on TV among the contenders”. Vance has publicly defended Musk against critics and supported his controversial government efficiency initiatives.
As this very public feud was unfolding, over on the PBD podcast, Vincent Oshana espoused a rather bizarre conspiracy theory, claiming that this blow-up had been orchestrated by Musk and other tech billionaires, from before the election, to have Trump impeached and get Vance into the Oval Office. To think Trump would not have got wind of such a coup is stretching belief, and to think that he got wind of it and did nothing is downright ludicrous.
However, considering Trump's giant ego, even a hint of a conspiracy may not bode well for Vance, who once the Republican frontrunner for 2028, has slowly seen his rising star eclipsed by a resurgent and formidable Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

Rather than helping, Musk's nod to the impeachment of Trump and replacing him with Vance, might actually see the VP sidelined for the rest of Trump's term. If, that is, Musk and Trump don't find some way of burying the hatchet.
As Musk’s attacks escalated—including an unsubstantiated allegation that Trump’s name appears in the Epstein files—Trump retaliated by threatening to cancel Musk’s government contracts and publicly denounced the billionaire as having “gone CRAZY".
The feud spilled onto social media, with Musk unfollowing prominent Trump allies and threatening to withdraw SpaceX’s support for NASA missions, though he later backed down.
Musk has also unfollowed some of the president's top allies including White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
As we reported earlier, Musk's extremely cordial farewell meeting with Trump in the Oval Office was oversadowed by a black eye sported by the billionaire. Musk brushed off the injury, attributing it to roughhousing with his four-year-old son, X.
However, online sleuths weren’t convinced, with some wildly suggesting that White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller had clocked him. The theory gained traction after Miller’s wife, Katie, announced her departure from the Trump administration to work for Musk full-time.
