Washington D.C.: A DailyMail.com poll has revealed that a significant portion of Republican voters believe Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz should resign following the Signal scandal that has rocked the Trump administration. The controversy erupted after 'The Atlantic' editor Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally included in a private Signal group chat among senior national security officials discussing a US strike on a Houthi terrorist leader in Yemen.

According to Hegseth, the campaign will continue until the Houthis cease their attacks.
Democrats accused Hegseth of recklessness.

The fiasco occurred when Waltz inadvertently added Goldberg to the encrypted chat, where Hegseth later disclosed precise operational details — including strike timings and weapon systems — ahead of the March 15 raid, which was ultimately successful. This week, Goldberg published the full exchanges, exposing candid remarks from Vice President JD Vance and triggering bipartisan outrage.

Despite President Trump’s public backing of both officials, the J.L. Partners poll for DailyMail.com shows widespread disapproval. A majority of Americans (54%) believe Hegseth should resign, including 38% of Republicans — surpassing the 33% who want him to stay. Independents overwhelmingly agree (54%), and a staggering 83% of voters over 65 across party lines demand his departure. Waltz fares slightly better but still faces pressure, with 47% of all voters and 33% of Republicans calling for his resignation.

The administration has downplayed the leak, insisting no classified information was shared. Hegseth fired back on social media, mocking the notion that the exposed details constituted "war plans", writing: "No names. No targets. No locations. No units. No routes. No sources. No methods. And no classified information."

Trump defended him, stating, "Hegseth is doing a great job... How do you bring Hegseth into this?"

However, critics argue the breach endangered troops. Democrats accused Hegseth of recklessness, while Republicans like Sen. Kevin Cramer likened the misstep to "strikes" in baseball.

Hegseth’s defiant response — including flaunting a new "kafir" (Arabic for "infidel") tattoo during a workout with Navy SEALs — has only fueled the fire.
